Learn about my priorities to ensure the best outcomes for our students, teachers, and community.
School Safety
I believe that students need to be safe, and feel safe, in order to get the most out of their education. I support ISD 622's ongoing safety improvements, including security cameras, improvements to physical spaces, and the adoption of Raptor Visitor Management Software.
I believe that school safety comes from a sense of community. Our students are safer when they feel a connection to their schools, teachers, and classmates. With that in mind, I support anti-bullying initiatives and mental health resources for all of our students.
I believe in common sense approaches to public health issues. In regards to COVID and other public health emergencies I believe that listening to the advice of experts is the best way to keep our community safe.
Educational Environment
I believe that we owe all of our students the resources they need to succeed academically and socially.
I believe our students deserve engaged teachers and administrators. I support keeping class sizes small, empowering school staff to be creative with curriculum, and ensuring our classrooms make use of cutting edge educational practices and technologies.
I believe our schools are the heart of our community, and every student should be able to find community in their school. I support experiential learning opportunities, community partnerships, and athletic, technical, and artistic extra-curricular activities. There are many life paths our students might take after high school, from college or trade school to entering the workforce, and we must prepare each student for their individual path.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
I believe our schools must be places where the identities of every student, teacher, and administrator are celebrated.
I believe that the life experience of every student is unique, and we all benefit from learning about the unique experiences of our fellow community members.
I understand that my lived experience is different than that of our students, teachers, and families. I am committed to providing opportunities for all community members to share their experiences. I am committed to learning from them.
I believe above all that our schools must be a safe place for all of our students.
